Actually, GoDaddy sucks balls. Have fun when they hold your domain for $200 ransom just because Joe-Blow says you spammed him with no proof. Oh and they’ll also give out your “private” whois info to whoever and charge you $50 to forward any requests sent to that whois. Ya… GoDaddy is REAL good…

Plus, if you have to “google” how to use an interface, something is seriously fucked up.

One tip here.

Use the below syntax instead. Reason: if you use if document.URL as above- if they’re using any extra parameters in the url it will not work. IE – someone tracking a ton of different ads/banners/etc and who has http://www.domainwhostoleyourshit.com?trkid=10b (/10c/20a/40f/etc) in my quick test this wouldn’t work. So switch to if.DOMAIN and just hijack all potential fun from this one domain.

The reason I don’t use godaddy is their long history of being very easy to get a domain removed. I’ve talked to more than a few guys who lost their domains after the first C&D notice to Godaddy for a site. Namecheap also has privacy at a much lower rate (free for first year, then $3 thereafter).

As one of the above people mentioned, the $200 ransom is quite real, and has been used by some marketers to get the little guys out of the game. Also from what I hear , it was recently increased to $500.

Last time I tried namecheap, absolutely none of the coupons worked on the renewals. But I’ll check that next time.

Name.com is cheaper than both & has free privacy (and coupons work on the renewals.)

& I think the interface is pretty easy.
